Rosie Shipley, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, has been playing the fiddle for as long as she can remember. She received her first violin lessons at the age of three and was introduced to Irish music five years later. Rosie is part of a musical family and has performed many times in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area and in various parts of Nova Scotia with her brothers Peter and Trevor as a member of the band Dark Horse. In addition to playing regularly at dances and concerts, Rosie takes great pleasure in teaching a handful of young fiddle students the music she loves. In her other life, Rosie studies photography at the Maryland Institute, College of Art. She plans on attending graduate school after receiving her B.F.A. in the year 2000. |
