Kelly Curran | Irish Language

curran.gif (17677 bytes) Kelly Curran’s interest in things Irish came at first from her father Pat, a provincial court judge in Halifax and founding father of An Cumman, the city’s Irish association. As An Cumman grew, so did Kelly’s skill in traditional Irish dancing and Irish Gaelic. Kelly pursued her study of Gaelic during two summers in Donegal and Conemarra and eventually earned an M.A. in the subject at University College, Galway. Kelly now teaches a course in Irish Gaelic in the Irish Studies program of St. Mary’s University in Halifax. When not dancing or teaching Gaelic, Kelly is busy with students in her English classes at Halifax West High School or chasing after John Patrick, her toddler.
