Long known as one of New Englands finest acoustic guitarists, David Surette is gaining wider recognition for his acclaimed solo recordings Trip to Kemper and Back Roads. David is accomplished in Celtic fingerstyle playing and arranging and in flatpicking on guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, and banjo. Davids awards include a 1993 Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and a 1994 National Endowment for the Arts travel grant to study the traditional music of Brittany, France. In addition to performing and recording, David maintains an active teaching schedule and is head of the folk department at Concord Community Music School in New Hampshire. John August/Mel Bay Publications produced Davids book of Celtic guitar arrangements. |
